Investec invites South African students to apply for the Bursary Programme for the 2024 academic year.
Closing Date for Bursary Applications: 30 September 2023
Bursaries will be granted for studies within fields relevant to the financial services sector, including:
- Actuarial Science
- Bachelor of Information Science (BIS)
- Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT)
- Business Science
- Commerce (including: Accounting, Business Economics, Economics, Finance, Investments)
- Commercial LLB
- Computer Science (B Sc)
- Engineering
- Informatics (B Com)
- Information Technology (B Sc)
- Mathematics
- Medicine Degrees (MBCHB)
- Science
Through this bursary programme, Investec aims to nurture well-rounded individuals who are academically qualified, work-ready, socially conscious, and economically engaged participants contributing positively to society.
The Investec bursary covers all study-related expenses comprehensively.
Bursaries will be awarded based on two main criteria: financial need and academic potential.
Minimum Entry Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria before applying. Failure to meet these requirements will result in the application not being considered:
- South African citizenship
- Currently in Matric or in the first year of university study
- Studying or intending to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree in one of the fields listed above
- Studying or intending to study at a recognized and accredited public university in South Africa (private tertiary institutions are not covered)
- Minimum result of 70% for Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy) in Matric
- Minimum result of 70% for English FAL or 65% for English HL in Matric
- Minimum result of 50% for all other subjects in Matric
- Minimum overall average of 60% for the first semester examination, if currently studying at a university
- Actuarial Science applicants: In the first year of study (unless studying towards a Business Science degree at UCT)

- Submit clear copies of the following supporting documents along with the online application:
- Certified copy of South African ID document
- 2023 mid-year (first semester) results or progress report (or latest results if not studying this year)
- Certified copy of Matric certificate (if completed Matric)
- Proof of parents or guardians’ household income (latest payslips if employed/affidavit if unemployed/affidavit stating annual income if self-employed/most recent audited financial statement or 3 months’ most recent bank statements if they own a business/SASSA letter stating the grants received if applicable)
- Parents’ death certificates if deceased
- Divorce certificate if parents are divorced/sworn statement from one parent if parents are separated
