The Saldanha Bay Municipality is calling upon South African students to apply for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2023 / 2024.
Deadline for Bursary Applications: 24 August 2023
Bursaries will be granted to students who reside within the Saldanha Bay Municipal Area (or whose parents or guardians reside within this area) to pursue Undergraduate Degree or National Diploma studies in the fields listed below:
- Civil Engineering
- Disaster Management
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Project Management
- Surveying
- Town Planning
Each bursary will carry a maximum value of R70,000 per student. The bursary may be extended for a maximum period of 3 years, contingent upon the bursary recipient adhering to the conditions of the bursary.
Requirements:
Applicants must fulfill the following minimum entry criteria prior to applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified):
- Age between 18 and 35 years
- You, your parents, or guardians must be residents of the Saldanha Bay Municipal Area
- Enrollment with the intention of full-time studies toward an undergraduate degree or national diploma in one of the specified fields for 2023
- Acceptance for study at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa (University, University of Technology, or TVET Institution)
- Not receiving bursary funding from any other institution or organization
- Preference given to applicants from historically disadvantaged societal groups or applicants with disabilities

Download and complete the Saldanha Bay Municipality Bursary Application Form 2024 (.pdf).
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (submission of these documents is mandatory – omission of any items may lead to disqualification):
- Certified copy of ID document
- Certified copy of your most recent Matric results (if presently in Matric)
- Certified copy of Matric certificate (if Matric has been completed)
- Proof of acceptance from the institution (on the institution’s letterhead)
- Fee structure (Quotation, Account statement, or invoice from the institution)
- Proof of income for parents/guardians (pay-slip or 3 months bank statement if unemployed, affidavit if unemployed, proof of social grant if applicable)
- Proof of address within the Saldanha Bay Municipal Area for parent/guardian/you
- Motivational letter (on two topics: your motivation for studying in your chosen field, and why you believe you should receive a bursary – maximum 1000 words)
Note: Applications will be considered “incomplete” until final Matric results and proof of University/University of Technology registration are received.
